We charge stupidly low prices for our work! Not because we lack faith in it, but because we’re 100% confident in what we offer.
Things in niche groups (such as ours) are always priced for niche economic brackets, and while focus in marketing and whatnot is placed on that it can actually end up excluding people who might benefit from it, but can’t afford it. I know this because I’ve been there many times before. But our low prices make it available to anyone who has an internet connection, and some spare change.
See The Fedup Experience for details.
Argentina (where I live) suffers from an economy as stable as a rusty bucking-bronco in a derelect amusement park, and where the rules have changed every time we get up in the morning. Our options are limited (to say the least) as far as accepting international payments are concerned, monitored (and even frozen) by government agencies, and even more limited (and more frozen) when acting as a non-business entity (such as yours truly).
See The Fedup Privacy Thingy for our stance on privacy.
Fedup Sheep does not work with cryptocurrencies. But unlike crypto, Stablecoin is pinned 1:1 with the US dollar. We also use noncustodial wallets, there’s no sign up, no KYC, no third parties, no data collection, maximum privacy and—for me, the one who pays them—the fees are much lower than conventional payment methods.
If you don’t know what any of this means, look it up.
Stablecoin opens the doors to people in countries blocked by traditional payment methods (gateways), like Argentina, or because of sanctions, embargoes, authoritarian governments, military invasions, and the like. At least for now.
Because governemnts are seeking to regulate not only cryptocurrencies but also Stablecoin. China, for example has simply banned the use of all crypto, including Stablecoin, and if caught using it , there’s a prison sentence. Other countires have also banned crypto for the difficulty in monitoring it or for religious reasons.
But with no KYC nor data storage it’s near impossible to track Stablecoin transactions.
In other words, anyone can purchase from Fedup Sheep regardless of what my, your, or someone else’s, government says. At least for now. Should this change, we will also adapt and adopt other methods that will inevitably be developed by people who value their privacy and financial independence.
We’ve also made the process of exchanging fiat currency to Stablecoin, for those who don’t operate with crypto or have crypto wallets, as smooth as possible, and we’re working on making it smoother.
We accept bank transfers (in certain currencies). Still one of the safest methods for international payments, but the process from payment to receiving your Fedup Sheep product isn’t automated, it might take a long time (up to a week), there may be hidden fees, and some banks may even disallow the purchase. For more details, see The Fedup Experience.
We use PayPal for credit and debit cards, and offers several other options (Google Pay, Apple Pay, bank transfer, etc.) depending on where you live. But their fees are the worst in the market, not transparent, and change. They also have a habit of freezing accounts, or not allowing payments under the vague heading of “inappropriate or offensive content.” If you’re familiar with my work (if you’ve read Independent Journeys, at the very least), you’ll understand my concern with this one.
The botton line is that instead of charging two prices to cover the varying fees, we charge just $1.99 for every monthly issue of Something to Graze On (or part of a series, short story, ect.), then leave it up to you if you want to help us out a little by opting for Stablecoin over conventional methods. At the same time, you also make a stand for financial privacy and independence.
An example: You buy something from Fedup Sheep via PayPal (which handles all credit/debit cards, etc.) and for the dosh to get to me looks something like this:
$1.99 minus ($0.49 plus +/-5.5% PayPal fees for Argentina plus +/-5% PayPal fees for business account plus 2.5% PayPal fees to transfer US$ funds to my US$ bank account in the US plus 2-3% currency conversion into my local—peso—account) minus currency conversion fees from your side (should there be any) = well, you do the maths.
And for Stablecoin:
$1.99 minus (1% payment gateway fees plus a fraction of a cent in blockchain transaction fees) = +/-$1.96.50 directly to me.
So, if you’re serious about your financial privacy, and want to assist the Fedup Sheep initiative, we strongly encourage you to use Stablecoin, even if you’re unfamiliar with it or have your doubts. Fedup Sheep would NEVER promote something unless we use it ourselves.
Thanx for reading this.
